Meaning of Colors on Olga

The screen of the Olga device can change color depending on the situation. This feature was designed to help users, even those with severe visual impairments, identify the device’s status. It also facilitates communication with our technical support by providing simple visual cues.

Although explanations are always displayed on the screen, here is the meaning of the different colors used:

Purple Screen

This screen appears when there is a network connection issue. A full explanation is available at http://connect.olga.tl

Brown Screen with White Microphone During Voice Recognition

The brown screen with a white microphone indicates a voice recognition problem. Several scenarios are possible:

a) "Voice not recognized" or "No match found"
This is the most common case for the brown screen. The user spoke before the voice engine was ready to listen. We recommend waiting two seconds before speaking after a voice prompt.

Example: When the device says “How can I help you?” > wait two seconds before giving your command.

b) "Microphone disabled"
This message means the device’s microphone has been turned off. A caregiver can reactivate it in Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Security and Privacy > Privacy > Enable "microphone access"

c) "Insufficient permission error"
This means some permissions are missing. A caregiver should check the following in settings: Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Apps > Show all apps > For Google, make sure:
- the app is not disabled
- microphone access is granted in permissions

Then go to: Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Search for "Google Voice Services" > On the screen, ensure that:
- Voice services are enabled
- Microphone permission is enabled

If the issue persists: Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > APPS > Select Internet Chrome > Validate pages without creating an account > then in the search bar, tap the microphone on the right and accept the permissions.

d) "Timeout error"
This may happen if the user didn’t speak within the allowed time.

e) "Recognition busy error"
This means the recognition system received too much input and couldn’t process the request. This is a rare case.

f) "Network error"
g) "Network timeout error"
h) "Google server error"
i) "Client error"
These four cases are much rarer. Please check the device’s network settings, and the permissions for Google apps and Google Voice Services.

Orange Screen with Olga’s Eyes Open
Message Displayed: "TTS Initialization Error"

TTS stands for Text-to-Speech. If you see this screen, it means that a caregiver has disabled the device’s voice services. Olga cannot function properly without them and they must be reactivated.

Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Search for "Google Voice Services" > On the screen, ensure that:
- Voice services are enabled
- Microphone permission is enabled
