Configure SMS / MMS

SMS Reception Issues

If you have a model 5 (Nokia) or newer:

1) Check that your Olga version is up to date in Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Update.

2) Ensure Olga is set as the default SMS application in Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Applications > Default Application > SMS Application > Select Olga.

If you have an older model:

If you're not receiving some SMS messages, you need to check the SMS configuration on the device. For this, a helper can check these points:

1) Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Application > Default Application > SMS Application > Verify that the default SMS application is indeed the “Message” application.

2) If the problem persists, ensure that the latest received SMS messages are properly displayed in the classic SMS application at:

Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > SMS > SMS Access.

3) If SMS messages are displayed correctly but are not announced by Olga, you are advised to check if chat features are not enabled by pressing on the top right:

the 3 gray dots > Settings > Chat Features
or Settings > Advanced Settings > Chat Features.

4) If your problem still isn’t resolved after this, you may try restarting the device:

Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Turn off the device > Confirm the preventive window > Press and hold the lock button until you see Turn Off / Restart.

If after this, you still do not receive SMS messages in the classic SMS application, the issue may stem from your plan or your operator.

Deleting SMS Messages

If you have a model 3 (ZTE) or 4 (Huawei):

SMS messages cannot be deleted vocally.

You can delete them via: Menu > Settings > SMS > SMS Access.

SMS messages occupy very little memory and are read in reverse chronological order. Therefore, this does not prevent consulting or reading them. Opening up to deletion would require us to open many exits towards the device's basic Android system. This is what we want to avoid to isolate the user in an environment they can control.

If you have a model 5 (Nokia) or newer:

From model 5, it is possible to delete SMS messages vocally, for that you need:
1) Verify that you have version 2.85 in Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Update.
2) Ensure Olga is set as the default SMS Management application in Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Applications > Default Applications > SMS Application > Select Olga.

Managing MMS (all models)

The list of features is available at this link: http://features.olga.tl

It is not possible to view MMS or take photos in Olga mode.

In the past, we developed a system for managing photos and a vocal camera, but we encountered several problems:
- visually impaired people were not able to focus properly, resulting in mostly blurry photos.
- furthermore, using the camera involved managing the phone's memory, which is not convenient for this population.
- it also required implementing other mechanisms of interaction with the device.

Statistiquement ces fonctions étaient très peu utilisées. Dans l’évolution de l’appareil, nous essayons de faire en sorte qu’il reste simple pour nos clients.

Statistically, these functions were very rarely used. In the evolution of the device, we try to keep it simple for our customers.

1) Accessing received MMS is possible via the helper menu. For this:
Verify that Olga is not set as the default SMS application in Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Applications > Default Application > SMS Application > Select Message.

2) Go to Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > SMS > SMS Access.
