Set Up Voicemail / Access a Keypad
This page presents different methods to set up and use the voicemail system (which depends on your carrier).
I) Voicemail (Beta Version February 2024)
This method is available from model 5 onwards from version 2.93. It allows for very simple access to voicemail, well integrated into Olga.
If your carrier offers the "visual voicemail" option integrated on Android (as of now, Orange and Bouygues in France), you can configure this method. If not, we invite you to follow the section below "II) Voicemail with Keypad".
1) You can perform a simple test by saying "Voicemail" after "How may I assist you?". If the list of voicemail messages appears on the screen, it means the voicemail is already set up.
If not, follow the steps below:
2) Check the Olga version in Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Update
3) Ensure this option is enabled in the carrier settings located in Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone > Validate the warning window > Press "Set as default" > Select Phone then Set as default > In the classic phone app press the 3 grey dots at the top right > Settings > Messages > Activate visual voicemail
4) Return to the main screen using the large dot at the bottom center of the screen > Press the grey "Settings" button > Select "Phone App" > Select Olga > Return to the main screen using the large dot at the bottom center of the screen
Being Notified of New Voicemails
With this method, the announcement of voicemail messages will be made along with the battery level every time the device is activated.
II) Voicemail with Keypad
This method is available from model 4 for all carriers that do not comply with regulations for the Disabled (see link on legifrance).
1) Check the voicemail number in:
Menu (long press on the blue dots) > Personal Info > Enter in the "Voicemail" field the number corresponding to your carrier.
2) Say "Voicemail with keypad" after "How may I assist you?"
3) The device will call the voicemail and display a simplified keypad with the buttons 1 2 3 4 # *
- a short press announces the buttons to allow the user to feel around on the screen to find the button's position without activating it
- once the user has identified the button's position, they just need to press and hold it to activate
Being Notified of New Voicemails
If you use this method, check with your carrier that the SMS notification option is activated. This way, the user can be notified by SMS when a new voicemail message is available.
III) Access a Keypad During a Call
Applicable models: from model 4 onwards
Unfortunately, some companies still do not comply with regulations for the Disabled by not offering a voice-accessible telephone platform. We are unable to vocalize their platform.
1) The contact must be saved in the contacts list.
2) When calling, add the mention "with keypad" to your voice command, for example: "Michael with keypad" or "Administration with keypad"
3) The device will call the contact and display a simplified keypad with the buttons 1 2 3 4 # *
- a short press announces the buttons to allow the user to feel around on the screen to find the button's position without activating it
- once the user has identified the button's position, they just need to press and hold it to activate
IV) Access a Full Keypad (for Caregivers)
Through the caregiver menu (for all models)
Menu (long press on the three blue dots) > Settings > Phone > Keypad
Vocally (from model 4)
Press on the screen and say "Keypad" after "How may I assist you?"
V) Voicemail Access Code
If your voicemail offers a special access code to reach the voicemail, we strongly recommend permanently removing it as it is not at all user-friendly.
Some carriers offer to change or remove the code in the voicemail options. In this case, a caregiver can follow point number 4) above to access a keypad > call the voicemail number and modify the options related to the voicemail code.
If your carrier does not offer this option in an accessible manner, we invite you to contact your carrier directly to have them remove this code for you.
