Bluetooth connection
Bluetooth standards are available on Olga devices. You can connect a Bluetooth speaker, headphones, a compatible Bluetooth hearing aid, a switch device, or any other compatible device to the Olga device.
Activate Bluetooth
Bluetooth can be activated in two ways:
- manually via Menu — long press on the 3 blue dots — then Settings > Other > Device connectivity > Bluetooth > Activate Bluetooth;
- by voice, depending on the Olga model used.
Some models allow you to activate or deactivate Bluetooth by voice using the voice command Bluetooth, after the voice command How can I help you?
To use this function, two conditions are required:
- Android 12 must be installed on the device;
- the Nearby devices permission must be enabled for the Olga application.
To enable this permission, go to:
Menu — long press on the 3 blue dots — then Settings > Other > Apps and notifications > See all apps > Olga > Permissions > Nearby devices.
Pair a Bluetooth device
Once Bluetooth is activated, select the device you want to pair.
Depending on the type of device, it may need to be put into pairing mode before it appears in the list.
Compatibility with hearing aids
Most Bluetooth hearing aids use a standard Bluetooth connection to connect to a smartphone.
Please note, however, that some hearing aid models are only compatible with certain phone brands or with specific protocols, including the ASHA protocol.
If you plan to connect your Olga device with a hearing aid, we recommend discussing compatibility with your hearing care professional before purchase.
Ringtones and caller name announcements for incoming calls
Some Bluetooth devices interpret incoming calls in their own way and do not always follow the ringtone or voice announcement provided by Olga.
Each Bluetooth device has its own options and settings.
We cannot test every Bluetooth device available on the market.
We recommend contacting your hearing care professional or the manufacturer of your Bluetooth device to understand its specific features.
Example of a specific configuration: Bose Sport Bluetooth headphones
Bose Sport Bluetooth headphones have their own incoming call interpretation system. They may therefore not follow Olga’s call announcement method.
For Bose headphones to handle caller announcements, you should check in particular that:
- the Bluetooth options Contact sharing, Calls and Media are enabled;
- the contacts are also saved in the device’s standard Phone application.
By default, the language of these headphones may be English. During an incoming call, the headphones may announce a phrase such as Call from followed by the contact’s name.
The language of the Bose voice prompts can be changed using the Bose Connect application, which can be downloaded on the device.
