Sound and volume

This page explains how to change the volume, check the sound settings, and use Silent mode or “Do not disturb” mode on Olga.

1) Changing the volume

From version 3.15, users can change the volume directly by voice using the voice command “Volume” after “How can I help you?”.

By default, the volume is set to maximum and the volume buttons are locked to prevent users from accidentally turning the sound down or off.

To change this setting, a helper can proceed as follows:

Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Sound > untick Lock volume buttons

Another setting may also be required to allow Olga to control the volume buttons properly:

Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Accessibility > check that accessibility is enabled for Olga.

A helper can also adjust the different sound levels in:

Menu > Settings > Other > Sound and vibration

  • Media volume corresponds to the volume of Olga’s voice, the ringtone, and the different media sounds.
  • Call volume corresponds to the volume used during phone calls.

2) “Do not disturb” mode

“Do not disturb” mode is a mode linked to the Android system. It allows certain sounds on the device to be filtered. Olga may activate it in order to limit certain unwanted sounds for users.

We invite a helper to check that “Do not disturb” mode is correctly configured in:

Menu (long press on the 3 blue dots) > Settings > Other > Sound and vibration > Do not disturb > Alarms and other interruptions > check that Media sounds is enabled.

3) Silent mode

There are two ways to put the device into silent mode.

a) Use the voice command “Silent mode”

To put the device on vibrate and mute the ringtone for incoming calls and SMS messages, silent mode can be activated by voice.

When Olga asks: “How can I help you?”, simply say: “Silent mode”.

b) Plug in earphones

You can also simply plug in earphones. This way, ringtones and Olga’s voice will be played directly through the earphones, and the device will not make any noise.
